Imaging Footprint During TAG
The series of images on the left was captured by the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft’s SamCam camera on Oct. 20 during the NASA mission’s Touch-And-Go (TAG) sample collection event. The image series on the right shows the navigation camera’s (NavCam 2) field of view during the sampling event. Both cameras documented the scene as the spacecraft approached, touched, and moved away from asteroid Bennu’s surface. The series in the middle illustrates the footprint of the images collected by both the SamCam (red) and NavCam 2 (green) imagers, and shows where the images were taken in relation to the targeted touchdown area within sample site Nightingale (orange).
