Site Nightingale from Recon B

This is the highest-resolution image captured of sample site Nightingale as of January 22. Site Nightingale is located in a crater near asteroid Bennu’s north pole. The sample site is visible in the upper left of the image’s field of view. It was taken by the PolyCam camera on NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft on January 22, from a distance of 0.4 miles (0.6 km). The field of view is 30 ft (9.2 m). For reference, the cracked boulder (up and right of center) is 3 ft (1 m) long, which is about the size of a guitar. The image was obtained during the mission’s Reconnaissance B phase. When it was taken, the spacecraft was over the northern hemisphere, pointing PolyCam south and to the west.
