Word of the Week: Telemetry
Data transmitted from a remote source. Spacecraft regularly send teleemtry data detailing their status to Earth via radio antennae.
OSIRIS-REx transmits telemetry about the condition of its instruments and subsystems back to Earth through NASA’s Deep Space Network. The team uses this stream of data to monitor the spacecraft’s health and progress.
