Earth-Based View of Asteroid Bennu Sept. 2011

On Sept. 26, 2011, researchers using the 1.5-m Kuiper Telescope at the University of Arizona observed asteroid Bennu (then known as 1999 RQ36) during one of its close Earth passes that occur every six years. This image is a combination of 28 images taken with 60-second exposures using the telescope’s R filter.
